Service Description

The Lacuna Method is becoming a popular treatment for fungal nails due to its simplicity, low cost and positive results. The treatment involves painlessly drilling small, circular holes within the nail plate. You will then be asked to spray an anti-fungal every day; the perforated nail plate allows the medication to penetrate the nail and the nail bed. The treatment process is repeated between every six to eight weeks until the nail grows clear of infection. Please be aware that not every nail is suitable for this treatment. Signs of fungal nails; 👣 🔸Thickenend, crumbly or brittle nails. 🔸Distorted in shape or lifting. 🔸White, yellow or brown in colour. Lacuna method is the answer! 🔹Pain free safe treatment. 🔹Making micro holes in the nail plate allow an anti-fungal medicine to reach the point of infection directly under the nail. 🔹Continued once a day application of an antifungal allows the nail to grow out healthy. Step 1: Diagnosis. Where the diagnosis is in doubt we strongly recommend analysis of the nail to confirm the presence or otherwise of fungus. This is because studies have shown that even experts (dermatologists & podiatrists) at very best can only be around 67% accurate by visual diagnosis meaning they still get 1 in 3 diagnoses wrong. Clinical guidelines from NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) and published papers repeatedly state it is good practice to establish a formal diagnosis before treating. Therefore at the feetopia the patient has a choice of being tested within the clinic which takes about 5-10 minutes or going to their GP in which the results may take up to 6 weeks. Published studies has shown the test used within The feetopia has 97% accuracy. Once the diagnosis has been made we proceed to step 2. Step 2: Treatment of the fungal nail. The lacuna method is an exciting new product for treating Fungal Nail (Onychomycosis).lucuna is based upon Controlled Micro Penetration that makes tiny holes (0.4mm in diameter) in the nail plate. The holes allow topical treatments to reach the nail bed in much higher concentration levels than otherwise possible. Fast; results are usually visible in 2-8 weeks Micro Penetration prevents injury to soft tissue - only the nail is penetrated!
